Direct answer

What kind of game is Big Walk?

House House calls Big Walk a cooperative multiplayer adventure about teamwork and talking. The official store description adds challenges, puzzles, discoveries, open exploration, and time to simply hang out. “Walker-talker” captures the mixture better than placing it entirely inside a puzzle game or walking simulator label.

Players use simple physical verbs such as moving, pointing, waving, carrying, and helping. Complexity appears when the group sees different information or becomes unable to communicate normally. The game asks friends to build a shared language instead of mastering a combat loadout.

Group rules

Player count, matchmaking, and world size

Big Walk needs at least two players and supports up to twelve. The host chooses a two-player, three-player, or four-plus world version, and some content adapts to that choice. The setting is an expected minimum rather than the session’s maximum.

There is no random online matchmaking and no full solo campaign. One person can enter and walk a little but cannot make meaningful progress through the cooperative adventure. The game is designed for people who organize a known group and return together over several sessions.

Save ownership

How hosting and Join Codes work

The host starts first and becomes the keeper of the automatically saved progress. Guests join from the same platform’s friends list or use the short Join Code generated for the session. When the host stops, every guest disconnects, and the host must return to continue that world later.

Crossplay does not change save ownership or confirm cross-save transfer. Mac App Store players use Join Codes because that version lacks Game Center friends discovery. Host migration, guest world copies, and moving the save to another platform account are Unconfirmed.

Signature mechanic

Voice, text, gestures, and tools

Proximity voice chat fades across distance, echoes down corridors, muffles through walls, and crackles through walkie-talkies. In-game text chat has the same restrictions and supports a full playthrough without a microphone. House House recommends avoiding outside calls because unrestricted chat bypasses intended challenges.

Players can point, wave, and move each arm when talking is unavailable. Official tools include walkie-talkies, binoculars, laser pointers, megaphones, flares, whiteboards, cowbells, and other unusual objects. Carrying the right tool, keeping paired radios apart, and recovering lost gear create cooperation outside formal puzzles.

Shared discovery

How the puzzles and world work

The island is handcrafted and open enough for groups to choose different routes. Structures can require observation, visual or audio descriptions, timing, positioning, object handling, gestures, and separation. Supplied reports say players often receive no direct instruction panel and must infer the goal from the environment.

A reliable solving rhythm is to inspect first, compare information, assign temporary roles, and test one plan. There are no confirmed selectable classes or fixed role statistics. Responsibilities change with the clue, the tool being carried, and the place each friend can reach.

Supported options

Controls, accessibility, and comfort

Big Walk supports mouse and keyboard, most computer controllers, and console controls, with full rebinding available. Players can choose crosshair styles, use hold-or-toggle options, adjust FOV, and select motion-reduction overlays. Lowering render scale and quality can help computer performance according to the official troubleshooting guide.

The host can enable challenge skipping for tasks that depend on hearing or reading, speaking or typing, reaction time, or fine motor ability. Characters can carry one another, and some objects can highlight interactive elements. These options support cooperation but do not remove the two-player minimum.

Before you buy

Who Big Walk is for

Big Walk is for friends who enjoy conversation, exploration, and plans that can fail in funny ways. It asks for patience during travel and respect for the in-game chat limits. A stable group and reliable host matter more than competitive skill or a perfectly optimized route.

It is not for players seeking solo progress, public matchmaking, local split-screen, or constant combat. The game has a defined ending but no official universal hour count, because route, group size, puzzle pace, and optional challenge skipping vary. Buy it for the shared journey rather than an invented quantity of content.

Verification

Big Walk game sources

The guide prioritizes House House, the official press kit, and platform stores. Hands-on reporting supplies only attributed observations about play. Missing details are marked Unconfirmed and no characters, codes, or numerical claims are invented. The research supplied for this project contained copied navigation, advertisements, transcript errors, informal names, and a price summary without clear attribution. Those parts were filtered out. Facts repeated here either appear in an official source or are clearly framed as an identified reviewer’s experience. This keeps the practical overview useful without turning a fan nickname, search snippet, or one group’s route into an official system. The evidence check is dated for clarity.
