Save and host guide
How Big Walk Saves Work
Big Walk saves progress automatically, but the world save belongs to the player who hosted the session. To continue the same adventure later, that original host loads the save and starts first; friends then rejoin through the current Join Code or supported platform-friend route. Official guidance does not document transferring that world to another host.

Confirmed details
The important facts
Saving is automatic
The official FAQ says progress is saved automatically rather than through a manual save button.
The host owns the world
The save is associated with the host. Guests connect to that host’s ongoing world.
The same host continues
For a later session, the original host must load the save and host again before guests reconnect.
A Join Code is not a save
The code only connects players to a current session. A new code is generated when the host starts a session.
The host ending disconnects guests
When the host stops, the other players leave that session and must wait for a host to start again.
The ending remains available
The official FAQ confirms the game has an ending; continuing a saved host world is how the group preserves its shared route toward it.
Practical guide
What to do
Choose a reliable host
Pick someone likely to attend future sessions and use a stable connection.
Let that player host first
The host creates the world version appropriate for the expected group and starts the session.
Rejoin the current session
Friends use the current Join Code or the supported friend-game list after the host is online.
Keep the same host next time
The original host loads the existing save instead of another player creating a separate world.
Do not rely on an old code
Ask for the code shown by the active host because Join Codes are session credentials, not permanent save IDs.
Back up only through supported platform features
Do not move or edit files based on an unverified path; platform and cloud behavior can differ.
Evidence boundary
What remains unconfirmed
The official material reviewed here does not provide a host-transfer button, guest-to-host conversion, manual save-file path or cross-platform save migration procedure.
Guest unlocks, local settings and platform achievements may behave separately from the host’s world progress. Their exact persistence should not be treated as confirmed without platform-specific documentation.
Host migration, manual save transfer and cross-progression are not documented in the official FAQ and remain unconfirmed.
