Cross-platform multiplayer
Big Walk Crossplay
Yes, Big Walk supports crossplay. Players on Windows or Mac, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 can join the same online game, with groups ranging from two to twelve people. Cross-platform friends can connect with a Join Code, but the host keeps the save and must host again when the group continues.

Direct answer
Which platforms can use Big Walk crossplay?
The official FAQ confirms crossplay between all systems on which Big Walk is currently available. Those systems are Windows and Mac through Steam, Mac through the Mac App Store, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. A mixed group can therefore combine computer and console players in one hosted session.
The official press kit and store pages describe Big Walk as online cooperative multiplayer for two to twelve players. Steam and Nintendo explicitly label cross-platform multiplayer, while PlayStation’s listing repeats the crossplay feature. No official source in the collected evidence limits crossplay to a particular pair of those supported systems.
Connect the group
How to invite cross-platform friends
The host starts a session first and receives a short, unique Join Code. Share that code privately with the people who should enter the session, then have them use the code from their own copy of Big Walk. The official FAQ says a new Join Code is generated each time the host starts a session.
Friends on the same platform service may also see the host automatically in the active friends list. A cross-platform friend is less likely to share that platform-level relationship, so the Join Code is the straightforward method. Mac App Store players must use a Join Code because that version does not support Game Center friends-list discovery.
The host can find the active code in the corner of the host menu before starting, or under Session Details after the game begins. Do not publish a live Join Code openly unless the host intends to invite anyone who sees it.
Progress ownership
How hosting and saves work across platforms
Crossplay does not move ownership of the world between the group. The host is the keeper of the save, progress is stored automatically for that host, and guests disconnect when the host ends the session. Continuing the same journey later requires the same host to start that saved world again.
A guest can join from a different supported system without becoming the save owner. The official FAQ does not announce host migration, a guest copy of the world, or a method to transfer the save between platform accounts. Cross-progression and cross-save transfer are therefore Unconfirmed, even though joining cross-platform is confirmed.
Choose a reliable host before beginning a long-form group save. Platform choice matters less for joining than the host’s ability to return for future sessions.
Group setup
Crossplay player count and world size
Big Walk requires at least two people and supports up to twelve in an online group. When starting a session, the host chooses a two-player, three-player, or four-plus version of the world. That setting describes the expected minimum participation and changes some parts of the world to fit the group.
The chosen world version does not create a lower maximum for the session. A four-plus world can still host the overall maximum of twelve, and the official FAQ says any supported group size can work. If attendance may drop, House House recommends choosing a lower world setting rather than counting people who will not stay for the session.
What each player needs
Subscriptions, copies, and online requirements
Big Walk is online-only cooperative multiplayer, so each participant needs a supported device, a network connection, and legitimate access to the game. The PlayStation Store says PS Plus is required for online play on PS5. Nintendo’s store lists Nintendo Switch Online for the Switch 2 network mode.
Computer players do not need a console network subscription, but they must meet the relevant Steam or Mac App Store requirements. Crossplay does not make a PlayStation or Nintendo membership valid on another platform. Family sharing, cross-buy, and using one purchase for several simultaneous players are not established by the official crossplay documentation and remain Unconfirmed.
PC and Mac players
Use Steam friends discovery when available, or enter the host’s Join Code. Mac App Store players use the code because Game Center discovery is unavailable. Controller and mouse-and-keyboard support do not change who can join.
PS5 and Switch 2 players
Use the platform friends list for same-service hosts or a Join Code for other players. Keep the required online subscription active for network play. A console’s local play mode is not a substitute for Big Walk’s online multiplayer.
Core mechanic
Does crossplay include voice and text chat?
Big Walk includes in-game proximity voice chat and in-game text chat. Both are designed to react to distance, walls, soundproof barriers, and items such as walkie-talkies. A microphone is optional because the official FAQ says the entire game can be played through its text system without losing those designed restrictions.
Use the in-game communication system even when a Discord call or platform party is available. House House warns that unrestricted outside chat bypasses puzzle situations built around losing contact and finding another way to communicate. Crossplay works best when everyone agrees to the same rule before the session begins.
Players in the same home can play on separate devices in separate rooms, according to the FAQ. Sitting together in one room undermines the communication barriers because people can hear one another outside the game.
Evidence boundary
What Big Walk crossplay does not confirm
Crossplay confirms that supported platforms can join the same live session, but it does not promise every platform feature will transfer. Achievements, purchases, platform friends, account identities, and save files are controlled separately by the relevant services. The official FAQ does not publish a unified Big Walk account system that merges those records.
Random matchmaking is also absent, so crossplay will not automatically find strangers to fill an empty group. The game is intended for a familiar group that returns over multiple sessions, and the host must be present to continue its save. Any claim that crossplay adds public lobbies, dedicated servers, host migration, or Xbox support is Unconfirmed until House House announces it.
Verification
Crossplay sources and evidence limits
The cross-platform answer comes from House House and the official platform listings. Store labels are used to confirm online modes, while the FAQ supplies the connection, hosting, save, chat, and group-size rules. Features that those sources do not describe are marked Unconfirmed instead of being inferred from other games.
Official Big Walk FAQ
House House confirms crossplay, supported systems, Join Codes, friends-list discovery, host-owned saves, two-to-twelve-player groups, and chat behavior. It is the main source for session rules.
Official Big Walk press kit
The press kit lists Steam on PC and Mac, PS5, Switch 2, and the Mac App Store, then states that players can play online with friends on other platforms.
Big Walk on Steam
Steam labels the game Online Co-op and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. Its feature list also confirms the two-to-twelve-player range and online crossplay.
Nintendo Switch 2 store page
Nintendo lists online play for two to twelve players, cross-platform play, and the Switch Online requirement. It also identifies single-system play as one player rather than local co-op.
